Flossie’s Busy Winter

During January I was busy practising for a royal visit! On Friday 3rd February, I took part in a demonstration for HRH Princess Anne, who came to visit Lincolnshire Wolds RDA group, which I am a member of. Fellow ambassador, Ros Canter, planned the display and helped train us. The day went very well and Princess Anne thought Ricky was handsome.

I made a good start to my winter show jumping season at Forest Edge Arena in Norfolk. I achieved 3 4th places in very big classes. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks later I had a nasty fall and had to take a few weeks off riding. Mum has been quite nervous of me getting going again, but I persuaded her to take me to Hill House in February and March where I managed wins and places in every class I entered. Although I only managed 3 shows during the winter, because Ricky was placed in every class he took part in, I have finished the season in 10th place in the British Show jumping bronze league.

I have been busy at pony club training and in February Ricky and I made a big step because we attempted to do some cross country. This was nerve-wracking for me because the first time we saw Ricky was with one of my mum’s friend’s daughter and he set off with her across country at high speed! But after we had started I knew he was going to be fine and I also knew that Ros would not ask me to do things that I wasn’t fully capable of doing. It was fun and I took Ricky to our pony club hunter trial at South Elkington where we completed 2 clear rounds.

British show jumping’s summer leagues started on 1st April. I made a good start at Arena UK winning the first class.
