Emerald Green Feeds Meadow Magic Pellets are a high fibre, low sugar and starch feed, aimed primarily (but not exclusively) at those horses and ponies which have any of the following traits or conditions: ‘Good doer’, Laminitis, Cushing’s disease, stomach ulcers and obesity. Meadow Magic is made from pure grass and is 100% Alfalfa free, which makes it an excellent alternative for those horses which can have an adverse reaction to, or dislike of Alfalfa, but require a very high fibre and low sugar/starch feed. The pellets are made from meadow and fescue grasses solely grown by Emerald Green Feeds for producing this feed. The bespoke variety of grasses are cut at a similar growth stage to that of hay to achieve the desired nutritional qualities. The mature grasses are dried soon after harvesting at very high temperature to preserve the naturally occurring protein, vitamins and minerals and other nutrients. Hence, no preservatives or mould inhibitors, or any other ingredient whatsoever, are used in making the feed. Meadow Magic can also make an excellent Summer feed for natives breeds and any equine requiring a 100% grass feed but needing fewer calories. Pellets can be fed dry in small quantities, such as a treat in the hand, scattered, or released gradually from a suitable treat ball. For larger quantities, such as a meal, or for equines with reduced chewing ability, soaking the pellets until they are free from lumps is recommended. The result is an excellent, hydrating mash and the risk of choke is reduced.

The alfalfa used to make Alfalfa-mazing is cut fresh in the field and then gathered in to be dried very quickly at high temperature in what is, effectively, a huge tumble-drier. It’s then bagged immediately on site at our farm. This process ensures the naturally occurring nutrients are locked in, giving the feed a long and practical shelf life of two years, meaning you can feed it all year round and dip in and out of a bag as your horse or pony’s requirements change throughout the year. Feeding Grass Pellets means that your horse is able to benefit from fresh grass all year round. Grass Pellets can be fed dry in small quantities, such as a treat in the hand or released gradually from a suitable treat ball, or they can be soaked until free from lumps to make a hydrating mash. For larger quantities, for example a meal, or for horses and ponies with reduced chewing ability, soaking to a mash is recommended to avoid the risk of choke.
