Burghley Horse Trials

As always we attend Burghley in The World of the Horse Marquee just like we do at Badminton, this year we were positioned opposite the fire escape that looked out on to the cross country course so we would have had brilliant views if it weren’t for the customers getting in the way!!

We like to think of Burghley as our local event as it’s only an hour down the road, unlike Blair that we attended the weekend before which is at least a 10 hour journey! The bank holiday saw us returning from Scotland only to unload the trailer and repack it and head straight back out gain on Tuesday morning down to Burghley.

By mid-afternoon on the Tuesday the stand was set up and we were ready for the crowds to descend. The beauty of Burghley is that that the end of the day we were heading home not to a cottage or B&B to unpack and between setting up and the show starting we managed to get a another day of grass drying in so that was a bonus.

The weather was beautiful for the first two days and there were definitely plenty of people around to either shop or watch the dressage or both! The stand was buzzing with customers and the team were busy making up and giving out goodie bags. Saturday saw a change in the weather making the shelter of the marquee a good option when the rain came, the team were so busy it was great, not only does it make a long day on the stand fly by but you really get carried away with the excitement of the crowd. The cross country continued outside the fire escape as we chatted to customers and commented on how the horses took the jump just outside the doors. Obviously a good day for the traders as there were quite literally hundreds of shopping bags about, I think the rain encouraged refuge under the shelter of the shops, however this year I was very good and managed to only buy ice cream whilst out and about. Sunday seemed quiet after the crowds of Saturday but even so the team were not resting on their laurels there were still plenty of samples Emerald Green Feeds given out.

I’m confident in saying it was one of our best Burghley Horse Trials ever, we saw lots of people already using Emerald Green Feeds, we had visits on the stand from several of Brand ambassadors including Sarah Bullimore, we met loads of potential new customers and secure a couple of new stockists too. A very successful show….next stop Blenheim!!
