Torn Border

Catherine Burrell

An Anglo-Australian who grew up mustering cattle in New South Wales, Australia, I am now permanently based in Marlborough, Wiltshire, and have recently returned to the sport of eventing after having my second child. I couldn’t be more ready for the new season to start!
In 2017, I qualified my top horse, Duke, for Badminton and am keen now to resume his campaign of Advanced competitions—both short and long format—while his stable mate, Milan, will also step up to Advanced this spring/summer.
The Event Rider Masters series is very much on our radar—Duke made his ERM debut in 2017, and chalked up some points with a double clear at Barbury.
I am also very fortunate in having a number of talented young horses who I’ll be moving up through the ranks. 2019 promises to be our busiest year yet!
Having been long listed for London 2012, I have dreamed of once again being selected for the Olympics—I now feel, at last, that I have the horsepower and Tokyo 2020 is a very real possibility.
I was introduced to Emerald Green Feeds’ grass pellets at Burghley and they have revolutionised my feeding programme. I am a firm believer in feeding as natural a diet as possible and I love that, with Emerald Green Feeds, my horses are simply getting the nutrients of summer pasture all year round—it shows in both their performance and general wellbeing.
